TEAMS + LEADERSHIP

Shared direction. Leadership in practice.

Workshops, mediation, and individual coaching with a transformation team and its leader.

How we worked

  1. Observe

Questions, listening, and observations brought different experiences and tensions into view.

  2. Understand

With the leader and team, we examined responsibility, a stalled vision process, and what leadership the situation required.

  3. Change

The leader proposed a direction and invited the team to contribute. In further sessions, we reviewed how the collaboration was changing.

The situation

A transformation team in a logistics company was experiencing serious conflict and struggling with shared direction. I accompanied the team and its leader over approximately two years.

My contribution

I led workshops and mediation, and worked one-to-one with the leader. Through questions, observations, and Adaptive Leadership, we examined the team's tensions, responsibilities, and what leadership the situation required.

A concrete shift

The collective vision process had stalled. I helped the leader see what the team needed from him and encouraged him to propose a direction, then invite the team to contribute. He could take responsibility for direction while sharing leadership.

What i observed and heard

I observed the leader take greater responsibility and speak more openly with the team about his intentions and struggles. He later reported progress in collaboration and team members' growth, and invited me to lead another retreat. I learned from watching how honestly he questioned himself and how he changed his approach.
