One-Day Workshop
Rethinking Your Business
Examine the business you have, the changes around it, and the possibilities worth exploring.
What This Is For.
Agree what is changing for your business and develop options you can test. We examine customer needs, costs, revenue, and technology alongside the people and resources you have to put changes into practice.
Who It Is For
Founders and leadership teams reconsidering their business model, value creation, or strategic direction. AI can be central or one influence among others.
What We Work Toward
- Make the present business model and its critical assumptions explicit.
- Explore plausible changes and competing interpretations without treating a scenario as a prediction.
- Identify opportunities, constraints, and the capabilities needed to pursue a promising option.
What You Experience.
Participants map how value is created today, challenge the model from the perspective of customers and potential entrants, and develop contrasting options. They then design a test capable of changing their minds.
How we approach the work
Understand current value creation
Look at customers, operations, constraints, and the evidence behind the current business model.
Identify consequential assumptions
Develop possible explanations and strategic options, including what would have to be true for each to work.
Test before committing further
Choose an informative test and use its findings to decide where to invest, change direction, or stop.
What You Take Away.
We work toward these outcomes:
- A shared map of the current value chain and the assumptions that deserve attention.
- Two or three strategic options, with the key tradeoffs, dependencies, and unanswered questions.
- A plan for the first experiment, including what you need to learn and which decisions depend on it.
A Proposed Agenda.
We adapt this starting point to your context, experience, and the question you bring.
- 30 min
Frame The Decision
Define the strategic question, ambitions, financial and people constraints, and the decisions this work should inform.
- 50 min
Map Value Creation
Examine customers, needs, value chain, revenue, costs, and bottlenecks. Separate evidence from assumptions.
- 40 min
Explore What Is Changing
Bring relevant signals from customers, markets, AI, and technology. Ask what each signal might and might not imply.
- 15 min
Break
Time to pause.
- 55 min
Challenge The Model
Imagine a new entrant starting today. Explore where value could move and what would still make the existing business valuable.
- 45 min
Lunch
Time away from the work.
- 50 min
Develop Contrasting Options
Create options, including improvements to the current model and alternatives. Surface their people, technology, and commercial implications.
- 40 min
Design A Useful Test
Select a risky assumption, the smallest informative experiment, the evidence needed, and a decision rule.
- 35 min
Agree The Next Decisions
Identify owners, missing expertise, resources, boundaries, and a review sequence.
Before And After.
Preparation
A scoping conversation and selected business-model, customer, and operating information. The workshop works best with the people who can speak to commercial, customer, technical, and organizational realities.
Continuing The Work
A subsequent exploration can deepen customer research, develop a prototype, or examine whether to work through the existing team, a pioneering group, or a parallel effort.
The Perspective I Bring
Value generation stays central. We explore the technical possibilities alongside personal ambitions, culture, structures, and the practical capacity to learn and change.
Start With Your Situation.
Let's talk about what is happening and which form of support could help.
Introductory conversationA 15-minute introductory conversation to understand your situation and explore whether working together makes sense.
